I like Dubai. I like that they are trying to build a nice resort area for the wealthy. It's no different than the rest of the high dollar coastal areas around the world. The only thing that sucks is it is so close to Iran. Don't give up Dubai, things will turn around and your little offshore city is awesome!

Sharia still sucks. Getting rid of usury isn't really a benefit if the price you pay is having to have debtors prisons.
How is anyone supposed to earn to pay down a debt (even without interest) while in prison? Thats outright slavery, my friends. Especially if you end up in one of those prisons run by crooks who do things like charge $3 for a miniature bar of soap – it's not like the incarcerated can shop somewhere else…
But you miss something critical:
The rich are still quite rich. To me, that is their immunity (so far). If a person loses half of their billions, they still have billions. (Or in the smallest case, more than 500 million – still an absolute shitload of cash).
When the wealthy are in soup lines in the city and the poor farmers are saying that things arent much different than they were back in 2010, that will be the next Great Depression.

Dubai is a whole other story, it's a constant living hell.. 120 degree heat SIMULTANEOUS to an absolute humidity similar to that of Florida! Basically, imagine the sweatiest Georgia summer…. now go into a studio apartment and turn on all the lights, the oven, and set the shower to 100% hot water and the showerhead to "mist" … that's Dubai. Fuck that at *ANY* price!!!
