This is a primer on forex trading. It covers a little bit about the market place and a little bit about technical analysis. If you are totally new to forex trading I would recommend browsing the web or checking out Currency Trading For Dummies. That book is better organised, more fun to read, and cheaper. So I would give this book a pass. This book really deserves two stars were it not for the very misleading subtitle "trade like a pro without giving up your day job'. Such a tagline is in my view not very honest. It is not that easy to make money in forex and to assume it can be done on the side is totally misleading in my opinion. So that is why I have only given the book one star.

I have written several short reviews on trading books. The best way is to compare the score on the books I've read. Many reviews on amazon.com are just glorious 5 star reviews. I use all five categories; sorry but everything isn't "great". Books rated 5 are very good. Books rated 4 are good solid books well worth reading. Books rated 3 can be bought by some people who read a lot or have very specific needs. Books rated 1 or 2 I would not recommend buying or reading. Naturally all in my humble opinion.

One of the worst books on trading I ever came across. Aimed at a novice, the author fails to deliver what he continuously promises (each chapter beginning with some "after reading this you will learn how to..." passage). After Al Brooks (Reading Price Charts Bar by Bar: The Technical Analysis of Price Action for the Serious Trader (Wiley Trading)) it is embarrassing to see how the idea of price action is reduced to merely trading without indicators at support and resistance areas (illustrated with charts looking as if taken from an article by Sam Seiden). The chapter misleadingly titled "Reading Price Action" is teeming with trite fundamental information on the influence of central banks etc. For trading pullbacks the author coins an oh-so-entertaining concept of bargain hunting (probably the only innovation in this book), without going much into detail about identifying impulsive and corrective moves. It would have been more honest to refer to sources other than only fxstreet dot com, where the author once staged a webinar. For a primer, go to Ed Ponsi (Forex Patterns & Probabilities: Trading Strategies for Trending & Range-Bound Markets (Wiley Trading)) or any other book on the subject of trading, or, if you want to learn how "To Trade Like a Pro" (the misguiding claim on the cover), a forum like Forex Factory would be absolutely essential. Anything better than this!
